hydrogen bonds between C-3 OH and the carboxyl. It seems difficult to invoke an intermolecular hydrogen bond without having some sort of added hydrophobic contribution in aqueous solution. This kind of effect has been observed in aliphatic carboxylic acids-larger aliphatic chains leading to stronger dimerization effects in aqueous solution.32 To describe the 13C NMR shifts as due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding seems too simple for aqueous solutions of NaDC. Perhaps some partial hydrophobic interactions, which may be back-to-back hydrophobic interaction between bile salt molecules, occur in the initial aggregation, and this then changes when the “normal” micelles begin to form. AXIAL FLOW IN A ROTATIONAL COAXIAL RHEOMETER SYSTEM 11: HERSCHEL BULKLEY MODEL

Following recent works of several authors like Huilgol, Bhattacharya etd. and Javadpour et al., this paper is to contribute further to the literature of axial flow in a rotational coaxial rheometer. We consider axial flow of Herschel Bulkley mode1 between two concentric cylinders with the inner one rotating, while the outer cylinder is held stationary. An attempt has been made to direct the...

AXIAL FLOW IN A ROTATIONAL COAXIAL RHEOMETER SYSTEM 1. BINGHAM PLASTIC

A mathematical analysis has been carried out for the axial flow of a Bingham plastic fluid, in the Concentric Cylinder Viscometer which consists of a cylindrical sample holder (the cup) and a cylindrical spindle (the bob) coaxial with the cup. The fluid to be tested flows through the annular gap of the cup and the bob system, sheared by the rotation of the inner cylinder, while the outer cy...

Entropy generation analysis of non-newtonian fluid in rotational flow

The entropy generation analysis of non-Newtonian fluid in rotational flow between two concentric cylinders is examined when the outer cylinder is fixed and the inner cylinder is revolved with a constant angular speed. The viscosity of non-Newtonian fluid is considered at the same time interdependent on temperature and shear rate. The Nahme law and Carreau equation are used to modeling dependenc...

Application of transient evanescent grating techniques to the study of liquid/liquid interfaces.

Transient grating experiments performed with evanescent fields resulting from total internal reflection at an interface between a polar absorbing solution and an apolar transparent solvent are described. The time evolution of the diffracted intensity was monitored from picosecond to millisecond time scales. The diffracted signal originates essentially from two density phase gratings: one in the...
